Following the monumental conclusion of his hit series, My Hero Academia creator Kōhei Horikoshi is officially pivoting to the macabre. The acclaimed mangaka is set to launch a brand-new one-shot manga titled Warawanaide yo, Shijima-san (Don’t Laugh at Me, Shijima) in the combined 37th and 38th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on August 10.
A New Chapter: Stepping Into Boy-Meets-Girl Horror
Marking a massive stylistic shift from his decade-long superhero epic that surpassed 100 million copies in circulation worldwide, Horikoshi’s upcoming project is officially described as a “boy-meets-girl horror” manga. The high-profile release arrives on the heels of major franchise milestones, including the completion of the My Hero Academia manga in August 2024, its final compiled 42nd volume featuring 38 pages of new content, and the broadcast of the television anime’s eighth and final season.
