Elon Musk, the world’s richest person, has authorized his super PAC, America PAC, to allocate $100 million to $120 million toward a new field program spanning at least eight states to help elect Republicans in November. According to two people briefed on the private deliberations who spoke on condition of anonymity, the nine-figure budget has been communicated to other Republicans in recent weeks ahead of an aggressive spending plan set to begin next month. The planned financial injection follows Musk’s heavy involvement as the biggest donor in the 2024 presidential election, where he spent close to $300 million hosting town halls and utilizing his celebrity to support Donald Trump.
Targeted Senate and House Races Across Multiple States
The super PAC’s initial strategy focuses on Senate races in at least five states—Alaska, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, and Ohio—while holding ongoing discussions regarding contests in North Carolina, Georgia, and Texas. Additionally, the group plans to direct spending toward House races in states including California, Wisconsin, and Washington. America PAC stated it will remain active in both offensive and defensive battleground races, describing the upcoming initiative as a historic get-out-the-vote operation for the 2026 midterms, with top political adviser Chris Young returning to lead the operations.
Strategic Coordination and Conservative Outside Group Alliances
America PAC is closely coordinating its field campaigns with a broader network of conservative outside groups, including Americans for Prosperity—part of the Koch brothers’ political network—and the Sentinel Action Fund. These Republican-aligned outside organizations are planning to pool their field operations more extensively following a late June Supreme Court ruling that reduced the cost for party committees to work directly with candidates. Furthermore, the super PAC has shared its financial roadmap with other entities like President Trump’s super PAC, MAGA Inc., as it lines up firms specializing in direct voter outreach.
Political Re-engagement Following Prior Tensions and Departures
Musk’s return to Republican fundraising comes after a turbulent period that included a Wisconsin court election defeat in April 2025, a public falling out with President Trump that involved Musk stepping down from the government-gutting initiative known as DOGE, and a subsequent threat that summer to launch a third party called the America Party. Although those moves created anxiety among Republican-aligned advisers, Musk ultimately reconciled with Trump by last fall. Reflecting on his changing political footprint in an interview with The Economist published last week, Musk remarked that he got a little too involved in the administration and carried away.
