Teremoana Extends Unbeaten Streak with Knockout of Savage

In a striking display of power and precision, Teremoana Teremoana solidified his status as a rising heavyweight contender by defeating DeAndre Savage in less than two rounds during the main event at The Star Gold Coast in Queensland on Wednesday. This victory marks Teremoana’s twelfth win, bringing his professional record to a flawless 12-0.

The 28-year-old Olympian showcased his striking capability, knocking Savage down with a right hand that left the seasoned American unable to continue. This bout added to an impressive trend in Teremoana’s career, as all of his opponents have been dispatched in under six minutes.

Savage, 35, entered the ring with 11 knockout victories and had promised to challenge Teremoana’s skills. Post-fight, he conceded, “That was the hardest I’ve ever been hit,” acknowledging the Australian’s formidable punches.

Despite his victory, Teremoana expressed frustration with the speed of his fights, quipping, “I’m really annoyed that these fellas can’t carry on,” after becoming only the third opponent to force him into a second round. He lamented, “No one’s been able to make it out of two rounds.”

British promoter Eddie Hearn weighed in on Teremoana’s potential, projecting that the fighter, of Cook Island heritage, could ascend to world champion status. Hearn confirmed that Teremoana will next fight on the undercard of the highly anticipated Anthony Joshua-Tyson Fury super bout, the date and venue of which remain unconfirmed but are tentatively set for later this year.

Hearn also highlighted Teremoana’s potential future matchup against unbeaten British prospect Moses Itauma, who is scheduled to challenge Filip Hrgovic for the vacant IBF heavyweight title at the end of the month. Hearn noted, “You have got to have that speed of foot and Teremoana has got it, but he has also got that power and he has got that strength.”
