Rosie O’Donnell Celebrates 25-Year Friendship with Tom Cruise
During a recent SiriusXM radio appearance, Rosie O’Donnell expressed her deep appreciation for her long-standing friendship with Tom Cruise. O’Donnell, who identifies as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, stated, “I could never leave the throngs of gay people out in the world, of which I am a member, and proud to be a member.”
The friendship between O’Donnell and Cruise began shortly after the launch of The Rosie O’Donnell Show in 1996. The actor made a memorable appearance on the show in December of that year, where he surprised O’Donnell with flowers and kisses, acknowledging her admiration for him.
Since then, O’Donnell has maintained contact with Cruise, describing him as consistently kind. Reflecting on their friendship, she remarked, “Every year, I think, ‘What a classy guy he is that he has never forgotten my birthday.’ A lot of people say to me, ‘It’s just his secretary.’ But I don’t believe that. I think he knows in early March, ‘Oh, it’s Rosie’s birthday coming up.’ And he sends me something every single year for 25 years.”
O’Donnell concluded with a heartfelt sentiment, saying, “I love Tom Cruise and I will always love Tom Cruise.”
