India Secures 4-3 Victory Over Pakistan in FIH Pro League Clash

The Indian men’s hockey team triumphed over Pakistan with a hard-fought 4-3 victory in their FIH Pro League match at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in London on June 23, 2026. Despite not performing at their peak, India managed to secure the win through goals from Abhishek, Nilakanta Sharma, Sukhjeet Singh, and Rajinder Singh, while Pakistan responded with goals from Ahmad Nadeem, Abu Mahmood, and Moin Shakeel.

India entered the match as favorites but found themselves on the back foot early when Pakistan took the lead in the eighth minute. Nadeem capitalized on a penalty corner chance, scoring from close range. India intensified their efforts, securing multiple penalty corners, although captain Harmanpreet Singh struggled to convert his opportunities. The equalizer came in the second quarter when Abhishek netted a superb goal from the center of the circle. Prior to that, Pakistan’s goalkeeper, Ali Raza, frustrated the Indian side with several crucial saves.

In the 30th minute, another chance arose for India as Harmanpreet’s drag flick was blocked; Nilkanta seized the rebound, firing it past the Pakistan keeper to give India a 2-1 lead. Despite the sweltering heat affecting the Indian players’ performance, they managed to increase their advantage with Sukhjeet delivering a brilliant diving shot in the 40th minute. In the final quarter, Rajinder converted a penalty corner to put India ahead 4-1.

Pakistan, however, managed to claw back with Mahmood’s drag flick in the 53rd minute that slipped through the legs of goalkeeper Suraj Karkera. In the dying moments of the match, Shakeel converted from a penalty corner rebound, ending the contest at 4-3.

This performance marked an improvement for Pakistan, who were seeking redemption after losing all their previous matches in the league and conceding 22 goals in their last four outings. India will need to analyze their missed penalty corner opportunities as they prepare to face England on June 25, 2026.
