Jude Bellingham Calls Working with José Mourinho a “Dream” Ahead of LaLiga Season

Jude Bellingham, the 23-year-old England star, expressed his excitement about working under coach José Mourinho, describing the opportunity as “a dream.” This sentiment comes as Bellingham and Mourinho prepare to start the LaLiga season with Real Madrid.

Bellingham is entering his fourth season at the club, following a remarkable debut year where he helped secure a LaLiga and Champions League double. However, the last two seasons saw the team without major trophies. Mourinho has returned to Real Madrid for a second term, succeeding Xabi Alonso and Álvaro Arbeloa after a disappointing previous season.

In an interview with Real Madrid TV, Bellingham stated, “I feel like I already have a relationship with [Mourinho]. It’s a dream for me to work with a coach like Mourinho. I’ve only had one chance to see him, but I’m very excited to see what he’s like.”

The start of the LaLiga season has been postponed due to Spain’s participation in the World Cup final, with Real Madrid’s first match set to take place against Espanyol on August 22. Prior to that, the team will play a friendly against Schalke this Sunday.

Bellingham was the last player to join his teammates for preseason training at Valdebebas, arriving on Wednesday. He noted, “I’ve been running a lot in the heat, playing a lot of football with my teammates. It’s tough, but it’s good as well, to enjoy it, this suffering! I really like this kind of hard work.”

Having starred in the World Cup by scoring seven goals and leading England to the semifinals, where they were eliminated by Argentina, Bellingham shared, “The World Cup was a great experience for me and my England teammates. But I’m ready to come back and compete. Hopefully, we can win.”

Last season, Real Madrid finished second in LaLiga, trailing champions Barcelona by eight points and were knocked out of the Champions League in the quarterfinals by Bayern Munich. The club has made several signings this transfer window, including Marc Cucurella, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konaté, Denzel Dumfries, and Carlos Espí.

Reflecting on his role within the squad, Bellingham remarked, “I’m a bit more mature now, I have more experience. I have a good feeling about this season with the new signings and the coach, and let’s see… It’s an honour and a privilege for me to play for this club. I hope it will be for many more years.”
