Morgan Rogers Sparks Chaos at Stamford Bridge with His First Chelsea Goal as Enzo Fernández Faces Unlikely Backlash!

Morgan Rogers Scores as Chelsea Beats Real Sociedad 3-1 in Preseason Opener

Morgan Rogers made an immediate impact in his Chelsea debut, scoring the opening goal in a 3-1 friendly victory against Real Sociedad. This match marked Xabi Alonso’s first game in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Rogers, who is Chelsea’s club-record signing, found the net just nine minutes into the match. He capitalized on a rebound from a parried shot by João Pedro, placing the ball home from close range. Pedro later added two goals, increasing his impressive preseason tally to seven.

However, after the lively start, Chelsea struggled to create further meaningful chances. Real Sociedad equalized before halftime with a stunning volley from Jon Aramburu from outside the box.

After the break, Chelsea regained their momentum. João Pedro scored his first goal of the match with a header from a precise in-swinging cross from Reece James. Enzo Fernández entered the match around the hour mark, receiving a mixed reception from fans as James handed him the captain’s armband amid speculation regarding his future at the club.

Fernández had previously stirred discontent among fans by expressing uncertainty about his future following a defeat to Paris Saint-Germain and later discussing a desire to live in Madrid, which resulted in a two-game suspension. Despite this, with no clubs meeting Chelsea’s £120 million valuation by a self-imposed deadline, sources indicated he is expected to remain with the team.

Following Fernández’s introduction, Chelsea intensified their attack. Cole Palmer assisted Pedro, whose strong shot was saved as the Blues pressed for more goals. The match concluded positively for Chelsea when substitute Malo Gusto delivered an exceptional pass to Rogers, who timed his run accurately and finished with a low strike, solidifying a successful preseason.
