Harry Kane Expresses Pride Over Goal-Scoring Season Amid Ballon d’Or Dream
Harry Kane has described the possibility of winning the Ballon d’Or as “amazing,” highlighting the outstanding performance he delivered last season. The prestigious award, which recognizes the top football player globally, will be presented on October 26 in London, honoring achievements from the 2025-26 season.
As a striker for Bayern Munich and the England national team, Kane netted an impressive 73 goals in the previous season for both club and country. Reflecting on his performance, he stated, “I am extremely proud to put in the season that I did last year.” He acknowledged the significance of the Ballon d’Or, calling it “as big as it gets from an individual point of view.”
Despite his personal success, Kane emphasized the importance of focusing on the current season: “I know I had a great season last season. But as always, the focus is on this new season.” He acknowledged that the outcome of the Ballon d’Or is beyond his control, explaining, “The Ballon d’Or is not in my hands. I’ve done what I can do in terms of putting in performances. It’s now down to votes, and other people, and the media, and stuff I can’t control.”
Kane understands that the decision regarding the award is still some months away, stating, “Obviously it would be amazing if it were to happen. But it’s two or three months until that is decided so it’s not something that’s at the front of my mind right now.”
Last season, Bayern Munich secured both the Bundesliga and German Cup titles, while also reaching the semifinals of the Champions League, where they were defeated by Paris Saint-Germain, the eventual winners. Additionally, Kane contributed 12 goals for England, which included his participation in the World Cup, where the national team’s campaign ended in the semifinals against Argentina.
Historically, the Ballon d’Or has been awarded to English players six times, with Stanley Matthews (1956), Bobby Charlton (1966), Kevin Keegan (1978 and 1979), and Michael Owen (2001) among the recipients. Currently, the title is held by Ousmane Dembélé of Paris Saint-Germain.
