Paul Pogba Leaves AS Monaco After Early Contract Termination

Paul Pogba has officially parted ways with AS Monaco following the mutual decision to terminate his contract a year ahead of its original expiration date. The club stated that they “jointly concluded that the objectives initially set were only partially achieved.”

Pogba, who joined Monaco last summer after serving a doping ban, was set to remain with the club until the end of the upcoming Ligue 1 season. However, with the new campaign about to commence, he is now considered a free agent. The former France international’s recent tenure with the club saw him make just six appearances during the 2025-26 season.

In 2024, Pogba received a four-year suspension for testing positive for DHEA, a substance that enhances testosterone levels, but successfully appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, resulting in a reduced ban of 18 months.

“I would like to thank the president and the management, my teammates, all the staff members, and every supporter who believed in me,” Pogba remarked. “Representing this club and the principality was an incredible experience. AS Monaco is an incredible club, and although I did not play as many games as I had hoped, I will always be grateful for the opportunity to wear their colours.”

Thiago Scuro, CEO of Monaco, expressed gratitude towards Pogba, stating, “On behalf of the club, I would simply like to say thank you to Paul. We are very happy to have shared this journey together. While the outcome is not what we had hoped for, it should not overshadow the enthusiasm that surrounded his return to club football.” He emphasized the contributions Pogba made in the dressing room, particularly for younger players seeking his experience and guidance.

Pogba, a key player in France’s 2018 World Cup victory and a former standout at Manchester United and Juventus, now looks ahead to the next chapter of his professional career.
