Priyanka David Joins UP Warriorz as Scouting Head to Enhance Talent Pipeline
Priyanka David has been appointed as the scouting head for UP Warriorz, aiming to develop a strong talent pipeline for the franchise. In her statement, David expressed her excitement about working with UP Warriorz, stating, “Having spent so many years playing and working within Indian women’s cricket, I have seen the tremendous amount of talent that exists across the country.” She emphasized that scouting involves not only assessing current performances but also recognizing a player’s potential and what they can achieve given the right opportunities and environment.
David, a distinguished left-arm spinner, represented India in 10 Tests and 97 One Day Internationals (ODIs) from 1995 to 2008, taking a total of 182 wickets across formats. She served as the chair of the women’s selection committee from September 2020 until September 2021, during which she oversaw the selection of the Indian squad that won the Women’s ODI World Cup in 2025. David holds the record for the best bowling figures in a women’s Test innings and, in 2024, became the second Indian woman inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.
UP Warriorz, coached by Abhishek Nayar, made a notable entrance into the league by reaching the playoffs in their inaugural season in 2023. However, they faced challenges in subsequent seasons, finishing at the bottom of the table in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) for 2025 and 2026.
