Navi Secures $100 Million Investment from Prosus, Valuing Startup at $1.3 Billion

Indian fintech company Navi has successfully raised $100 million from Prosus, marking a significant milestone as it receives its first institutional funding since its inception eight years ago. The investment values Navi at approximately $1.3 billion, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Founded in 2018 by Sachin Bansal, a co-founder of Flipkart, Navi offers a variety of financial services including digital payments, lending, insurance, and mutual funds. The Bengaluru-based startup aimed to raise additional capital from institutional investors at a valuation of about $2 billion in 2024.

This investment is contingent upon standard closing conditions and regulatory approvals, and it arrives as Navi prepares for an initial public offering (IPO) to raise ₹30 billion (about $314 million). Navi had initially filed for a $440 million IPO in 2022, but subsequently put the plan on hold in 2023 amid a downturn in the IPO market.

Sachin Bansal, who co-founded Flipkart in 2007 and played a crucial role in transforming it into India’s top e-commerce platform, exited Flipkart in 2018 prior to Walmart’s $16 billion acquisition of the company. Following his departure, Bansal invested hundreds of millions of dollars into Navi, which he envisions evolving into a banking institution.

For the fiscal year ending March 2026, Navi reported revenues of ₹30.91 billion (around $323.33 million) but experienced a net loss of ₹4.66 billion (approximately $48.74 million).

Navi’s app, which facilitates digital payments via the government-backed Unified Payments Interface (UPI), ranks as the fourth-largest UPI app in India, trailing behind PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm. In July, the app processed over 947 million transactions totaling ₹483.18 billion (about $5.05 billion), according to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

Navi Finserv, the lending division of the startup, manages assets exceeding ₹130 billion (approximately $1.4 billion) and asserts it services hundreds of millions of users throughout India. Navi achieved consolidated profitability in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026.

Bansal described the Prosus investment as a “strong endorsement” of the institution Navi is developing, highlighting the value of the investor’s global perspective and experience in scaling technology enterprises. He did not respond to inquiries regarding the company’s valuation.
