Pakistan Shocks Cricket Fans with Thrilling Series Against Sri Lanka and England—What’s Next?

Date:

Pakistan to Host Sri Lanka for Test, T20I, and Triangular ODI Series This Fall

Pakistan is set to welcome Sri Lanka for a comprehensive home season featuring a bilateral Test series, a T20I series, and a triangular ODI series with England as the third team. The matches will take place throughout October and November 2026.

The season will kick off with a three-match T20I series in Rawalpindi on October 9, 11, and 13. This series marks Pakistan’s return to T20 international cricket since the 2026 T20 World Cup. Following the T20Is, both teams will clash in the opening match of the triangular ODI series on October 18 at the same venue.

The triangular ODI series will adopt a double round-robin format, culminating in a final scheduled for October 31 in Lahore. England will compete against Pakistan and Sri Lanka on October 20 and 22, respectively, in Rawalpindi before the series moves to Lahore for the remaining matches.

This series represents the second consecutive year in which Pakistan has hosted an ODI triangular series, having previously welcomed South Africa and New Zealand in 2025 ahead of the Champions Trophy.

The bilateral Test series will consist of two matches, with the first Test taking place in Rawalpindi from November 9 to 13 and the second Test scheduled for Lahore from November 17 to 21. Both Tests are a part of the World Test Championship, with Sri Lanka preparing through a three-day warm-up fixture in Islamabad prior to the matches.

This home season marks Pakistan’s second series in the current World Test Championship cycle. In October 2025, they hosted the reigning champions South Africa, resulting in a drawn series at the same venues. Pakistan’s following assignment in this cycle will be against New Zealand, slated for March 2027.

For Sri Lanka, this will be their second visit to Pakistan within a year, following a 3-0 ODI series loss earlier. They also participated in a T20I triangular series in November 2025, featuring Zimbabwe as the third team.

England’s last tour of Pakistan was during the Champions Trophy, where they were eliminated in the group stage after defeats to Australia and Afghanistan in Lahore and to South Africa in Karachi.

The upcoming ODI triangular series will mark the start of a busy winter for England, who will subsequently travel to Australia for three ODIs and five T20Is, followed by an extended tour to South Africa for three Tests and three ODIs in December and January. They will then visit Bangladesh for two Tests in February before returning to Australia for the 150th anniversary Test at the MCG in March 2027.
