Messi Shines in 2-2 Draw as Inter Miami CF Faces Philadelphia Union

Inter Miami took the lead in the 21st minute when Messi’s cross was headed by Luis Suarez into the path of forward Daniel Pinter, allowing him to score the opening goal. However, a potential go-ahead goal by Union forward Milan Iloski in the 62nd minute was ruled out after a video review determined that Pierre was offside in the buildup.

The match concluded with stoppage time skirmishes that led to red cards for Yannick Bright and Sullivan.

Inter Miami (11-3-6) entered this match in second place in the Eastern Conference, following a 4-1 defeat to first-place Nashville on Saturday. Messi played the entire match in that game, where he had 11 shot attempts, missed a penalty, and assisted Telasco Segovia’s goal. Prior to the draw on Wednesday, Miami had lost three consecutive matches in all competitions, including defeats to two Mexican clubs in the Leagues Cup.

The Philadelphia Union (5-10-5) have remained unbeaten in five matches since Ryan Richter took over as interim coach, recording four wins and one draw. They currently sit in 14th place in the Eastern Conference with 20 points from 20 matches.

Meanwhile, Rodrigo De Paul, who shared the pitch with Messi in the World Cup, was suspended for yellow card accumulation during the match. Earlier this season, Suarez scored a hat trick against the Union, helping Miami respond to early deficits.
