Inter Milan Finalizes Deal to Sign Liverpool Midfielder Curtis Jones for €30m
Inter Milan has secured a transfer agreement to sign Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones for an initial fee of €30 million, with additional performance-related bonuses potentially bringing the total to €35 million, sources have confirmed. The deal was struck late on Wednesday night, and Jones has reportedly been granted permission to undergo a medical examination.
This move follows Inter’s earlier attempts to acquire Jones in January, during which the Serie A club’s multiple offers were rejected by Liverpool. With only one year remaining on his contract, Jones had been anticipated to leave Anfield this summer, particularly after being absent from the squad in recent preseason matches against Monaco and Como.
Born in Liverpool and having joined the club at the age of nine, Curtis Jones made his debut under manager Jürgen Klopp in 2019 and has since accumulated 228 appearances for the team. While he struggled to consistently secure a starting position, he managed to feature in 49 matches in the past season. His tenure at Liverpool includes winning two Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and two Carabao Cups.
Inter Milan appears to be focusing on acquiring English Premier League talent this transfer window, as Jones joins fellow players John Stones and Djed Spence, both of whom have also transitioned to the San Siro this summer.
