Wild Boars Damage Real Oviedo’s Training Ground Ahead of New Season

Real Oviedo’s preparations for their return to LaLiga have been disrupted by wild boars damaging their training ground. The incidents took place over two nights, resulting in significant destruction to the playing surfaces of two of the club’s four pitches.

The first damage was uncovered early on Tuesday, and just 24 hours later, the boars returned, further damaging the grass on one pitch while also impacting a second pitch used by the club’s women’s and reserve teams. Currently, the pitches designated for the first team have not been affected.

The El Requexón training facility, located in a rural area near the Nora River, is familiar territory for wild animals, making such incursions not uncommon. Concurrently, Real Oviedo is planning to move to a new training facility and is cutting costs at El Requexón, which has led to the neglect of certain areas.

Last season, Real Oviedo finished at the bottom of Spain’s top division, securing only six wins throughout the campaign. They are set to kick off their new season on Saturday against Leganés, aiming for a successful return to LaLiga.
