Sony Exploring New PlayStation Store Wallet Credit Bonuses

⚡ Quick Read (30-Sec Summary):

  • Sony is testing a rewards program offering wallet credit for select game purchases.
  • Reports indicate bonuses are linked to titles such as The Blood of Dawnwalker and others.
  • Dynamic pricing may influence which players receive the offers.

Sony appears to be testing a new rewards program for PlayStation users. Recent social media and Reddit posts indicate that purchasing specific games from the PlayStation Store may now come with a bonus in wallet credit.

A Reddit user, JannJans, shared that both the Standard and Eclipse editions of The Blood of Dawnwalker featured messages stating “includes wallet credit” with an offer set to expire on September 29th. This discovery was noted by PlayStation Lifestyle.

In their post, JannJans mentioned, “I was deciding between Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Blood of Dawnwalker and noticed a special offer with the latter.” After acquiring the game, they confirmed receiving $10 in their PS Store Wallet.

Other users have reported similar bonuses, some even outside the United States. This offer is not exclusive to The Blood of Dawnwalker; several players have indicated seeing it associated with other recent titles, including Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Star Wars Zero Company, and Halloween: The Game.

While it is unclear if these wallet bonuses are part of a broader rewards initiative, PlayStation Lifestyle revealed the existence of a PlayStation Store app called Wallet Credits back in February, which might be related.

The concept of store credit incentives is well-established globally, with competitors like Microsoft applying similar strategies within the Xbox Store. Recently, pre-orders for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 included a $5 / £4 credit offer for a limited time.

It remains uncertain why the offer is selectively available to certain players, potentially correlating with PlayStation’s dynamic pricing model, which adjusts game prices based on user purchasing behavior prediction.

There is also the possibility that these wallet credit offers form part of a larger loyalty or rewards program in the pipeline for Sony, designed to engage specific tiers of players.
