⚡ Quick Read (30-Sec Summary):

  • Sifu, Sloclap’s martial arts game, has launched on Android and iOS for $8 / £6.
  • The mobile version features touch-based controls, an adaptive camera, and supports controllers.
  • Originally released in 2022, Sifu sold 1 million copies in its first three weeks and is known for its painterly visuals and fluid combat.

Sifu, the 2022 martial arts action game developed by French studio Sloclap, is now available for smartphones. Released today on Android and iOS, this version follows an announcement made earlier in the month.

The mobile edition is priced at $8 / £6 and has been customized specifically for handheld devices. The game incorporates new touch-based controls that translate its core moves into on-screen prompts, with streamlined environmental interactions.

An adaptive camera feature has also been introduced, designed to enhance the gameplay experience on smaller screens. Sloclap emphasizes that while the essence of Sifu’s painterly aesthetics and fluid combat remains intact, the mobile version offers support for controllers for those who prefer a different input method.

The gameplay trailer suggests that despite a slightly softened image quality due to the hardware limitations of mobile devices, the game retains its unique character.

Sifu earned critical acclaim upon its initial release, selling 1 million copies within the first three weeks. Initially a PlayStation and Epic Games Store exclusive, it later expanded to platforms like Steam and Xbox a year afterward.

Following Sifu, Sloclap released a contrasting game titled Rematch, a third-person football title that has also attained critical success. However, its announcement disappointed fans who were hoping for a sequel to Sifu.

While Sloclap continues to support Rematch, details about the studio’s future projects remain uncertain. Their development history includes three notably distinct titles: Absolver, a martial arts MMO; Sifu, a single-player kung fu game; and now Rematch, a football game. The genre of their next project remains to be seen.
