Cancelled Assassin’s Creed Game Footage Leaked Online

⚡ Quick Read (30-Sec Summary):

  • Footage of the cancelled game, Assassin’s Creed Destiny, set in 206 BCE China, has surfaced.
  • The game was in development at Tencent’s TiMi Studio Group, alongside Assassin’s Creed Jade.
  • Ubisoft has announced layoffs and proposed closing Finnish studio RedLynx amid these developments.

Footage of a reportedly cancelled Assassin’s Creed game, titled Assassin’s Creed Destiny, has recently emerged online. The footage showcases various gameplay elements, including stealth kills, the series’ signature leap of faith, and a unique spinning umbrella weapon.

Assassin’s Creed Destiny was said to be under development for current platforms at TiMi Studio Group, which is owned by Tencent and is also developing the mobile game Assassin’s Creed Jade. According to MP1st, the clips were obtained from portfolios of individuals who worked on the project, with most footage coming from a prototype built in February 2025. The setting for Destiny is believed to be 206 BCE, which is nine years later than Jade’s timeline of 215 BCE.

The main narrative features a female assassin infiltrating a sacred palace besieged by the warlord Xiang Yu’s army to locate a mysterious artifact. Additional footage includes an encounter with Xiang Yu as an early-stage boss character.

In another segment, a male character utilizes parkour techniques to defeat enemies, while a temporary test area displays gameplay with an umbrella-style weapon, complete with ink-brush ability icons and a health bar visible on the screen.

During a presentation in March, Codename Jade was mentioned alongside multiple projects at various developmental stages. There have been discussions about “bringing co-op back to Assassin’s Creed,” and a vague reference to a cancelled game; however, concrete details regarding the release of Jade remain unclear.

This week, Ubisoft faced additional challenges, proposing the closure of the Finnish studio RedLynx, known for the Trials series, affecting up to 52 positions, and announcing layoffs of 70 positions at Ubisoft Singapore, which is involved in the development of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced. “Today, we informed our teams of a proposal to close RedLynx in Finland, subject to the local change negotiation process,” Ubisoft stated. “The studio remains an important part of Ubisoft’s global production organization.”
