Xbox Unveils Shocking New Cloud Gaming Prices: Discover the Game-Changing Deal That Will Transform Your Playtime!

Date:

Microsoft Announces Pricing for Xbox Cloud Gaming Service

⚡ Quick Read (30-Sec Summary):

  • Xbox cloud gaming service offers 50 hours of playtime for $11.99.
  • Service launches for Xbox Insiders today, with wider release planned for November.
  • Wait times during peak hours will persist, despite paid subscriptions.

Microsoft has disclosed the pricing structure for its Xbox cloud gaming service, with the cost for 50 hours of streaming set at an introductory price of $11.99. This announcement was made through a post on the official Xbox news website.

Starting immediately, Xbox Insiders can use the new paid service to stream games without needing an active Game Pass subscription. This initiative precedes a planned rollout for all Xbox players in November. The paid streaming options will provide an ad-free experience compared to the free cloud gaming service launched earlier this year.

The introductory pricing is structured as follows:

  • 10 hours of playtime for $3.99
  • 25 hours of playtime for $7.99
  • 50 hours of playtime for $11.99

Although consumers will pay for the Xbox cloud streaming service, they may still experience wait times during peak hours; however, these wait times are expected to be reduced compared to the free version.

Microsoft has indicated that monthly time limits will apply to the paid Xbox cloud gaming service, although the company maintains that only a small fraction of users will reach this cut-off. Reports suggest that a 15-hour limit on the Game Pass Ultimate cloud gaming service exists due to the point at which Xbox begins to incur losses. The infrastructure required for cloud gaming drives significant costs in server maintenance, processing, and bandwidth.

In comparison, Sony’s now-defunct cloud gaming service, PlayStation Now, charged $9.99 for one month of streamed game time over a decade ago.

Currently, Microsoft is undergoing a large-scale restructuring, planning to lay off more than 3,000 employees. Recent reports indicate that further layoffs are anticipated later this month, in November, and into January.
