FromSoftware Temporarily Shuts Down Dark Souls 2 and 3 Servers
- FromSoftware has announced temporary server closures for Dark Souls 2 and 3 due to unspecified issues.
- The exact timeline for service restoration remains unknown, affecting PvP and online multiplayer features.
- Previously, the Dark Souls trilogy faced server interruptions in 2022 over a security vulnerability.
FromSoftware has announced a temporary shutdown of the servers for Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3, citing an unspecified issue. The RPG development studio conveyed this message via a tweet, stating, “Due to a server issue, the game servers for the following titles will be temporarily unavailable on all platforms.”
While the downtime is not expected to be permanent, the developers have not provided a timeline for when online play will resume. This suspension means that features such as PvP invasions, summon signs, and in-game messages will be unavailable for the duration of the outage.
FromSoftware also expressed their intention to provide updates regarding the server restoration time, apologizing for the inconvenience caused during this period.
This is not the first instance of server-related issues for the Dark Souls series. In 2022, Bandai Namco took the servers for all three Dark Souls games offline due to a security vulnerability affecting Dark Souls 3. Subsequently, the servers for Dark Souls 3 went dark once again just a few months later.
In addition, FromSoftware’s upcoming game, The Duskbloods, has encountered its share of difficulties. The multiplayer-focused title had to halt its first network test early due to “server issues.” Recently, the developer also announced a delay of The Duskbloods’ launch window to 2027, stating, “While development of The Duskbloods is at the final adjustment stage, we have made the decision to move the launch window to 2027.” They thanked players for their patience and support during this wait.
