Honobu Yonezawa’s Seasons of Books and Keys Game Announced for Switch and PC in Winter 2026
Shueisha Games and developer iMel have officially announced a video game adaptation of Honobu Yonezawa’s hit novel Seasons of Books and Keys, slated to launch for the Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam in winter 2026. Billed as a “drama-like adventure” designed to blend reading a story with watching one, the fully voiced title stars Kazuki Ura as Jiro Horikawa and Yūichirō Umehara as Shimon Matsukura. Alongside an official Steam page and announcement trailer, the game features an all-new original episode titled “Used Kitan” penned by Yonezawa himself, with character designs by original novel illustrator Yōko Tanji. Players will be able to experience the mystery with Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese subtitles.
Unraveling High School Library Mysteries and Secrets
The game adapts the first volume of Yonezawa’s best-selling “Library Committee Series,” which boasts over 400,000 copies in print. Players step into the shoes of Jiro Horikawa, one half of a high school library committee duo, as they tackle a series of unlikely cases—from a stubborn safe and stolen exam questions to the last book read by a deceased upperclassman and a hidden partner’s secret. As small school-day mysteries intertwine, the narrative gradually exposes buried truths, client motivations, and the ultimate destination of the two boys’ friendship.
