David Foster Addresses Snub Rumors After Event with Meghan Markle
David Foster recently clarified speculation regarding an alleged snub of Meghan Markle during an event in Victoria, British Columbia, on August 7. The music producer stated that he had greeted Markle and Prince Harry ten minutes prior to their encounter on the red carpet during his foundation’s 40th anniversary celebration.
In a statement to People on August 12, Foster explained, “As the host of the David Foster and Friends foundation event, I had already greeted our friends, the Duke and Duchess, at the entrance 10 minutes before the red carpet encounter. They both, graciously and selflessly, gave their time and went beyond to engage with everyone.”
Foster criticized media portrayals, calling it unfortunate that some outlets chose to misconstrue the situation for “clickbait.” He added, “They turned simple ‘positioning’ to get the best photo into a hurtful lie.”
During the red carpet moment, Foster was seen walking past Meghan Markle, who extended her hand toward him before he and his wife, Katharine McPhee, joined the royal couple for photos.
