British Boxer Raven Chapman Undergoes Emergency Brain Surgery
Raven Chapman, a 32-year-old British professional boxer, has been hospitalized following an emergency surgery for a bleed on the brain. This medical crisis occurred after she collapsed during a sparring session in Denmark.
Chapman, who competed for the WBC featherweight title in 2024, was diagnosed with a brain haematoma and cerebral oedema. Following her collapse on July 24, emergency services rushed her to a local hospital where she underwent surgery aimed at stopping the bleeding and reducing swelling in her brain. Post-surgery, she was placed in a medically induced coma.
In the last 24 hours, Chapman has been taken off sedatives as she continues to receive necessary treatment. Her management company, Vote Boxing, confirmed that she is now awaiting medically supervised repatriation to a hospital in the UK for rehabilitation, which is anticipated to be extensive.
Support for Chapman is evident, with a GoFundMe page initiated to assist with her medical expenses. Frank Warren, founder of Queensberry Promotions, expressed his thoughts on social media, stating, “Raven is fully in my thoughts this morning, I’m really hoping she can pull through and get home safely. Everyone at Queensberry is behind you Raven, we’re all hoping you can pull through this.”
Chapman has a professional record of 10 wins and 2 losses, including a defeat to Skye Nicolson in October 2024 for world honors. As her condition stabilizes, her medical team is focused on her recovery.
