India’s Shocking Streak: What Went Wrong in Their 4-2 FIH Pro League Defeat?

India Suffers Fourth Consecutive Loss in FIH Pro League, Falls 4-2 to Argentina

India concluded the Rourkela leg of the FIH Pro League on February 15, 2026, with a disheartening record of four consecutive losses, capped off by a 4-2 defeat to Argentina on Sunday evening. This performance has raised significant concerns for head coach Craig Fulton and the team.

Argentina opened the scoring in the second quarter after a series of missed opportunities in the first. Tomas Domene converted a penalty corner, easily beating Indian goalkeeper Pawan Rajbhar. Tadeo Marcucci extended Argentina’s lead just before half-time, followed by Lucio Mendez adding another goal shortly after the break.

Marcucci struck again to increase Argentina’s lead to 4-0, capitalizing on defensive lapses from India during a penalty corner. In the final ten minutes, India managed to make the scoreline slightly more respectable. Aditya Lalage deflected a shot from Hardik Singh into the goal, and Sanjay Rana scored from a penalty stroke after being fouled by the Argentine goalkeeper while attempting a play on Karthi Selvam.

India now prepares to travel to Australia for a series of matches against Australia and Spain in Hobart. The team must significantly improve its performance, having netted only five goals while conceding 19 over the Rourkela leg. This poor start comes during a crucial year leading up to both the World Cup and the Asian Games.
