Mother of Chris Watts Expresses Doubts Despite His Confession in Shanann’s Murder

In a recent interview, Chris Watts reflected on the murder of his wife, Shanann, stating, “Every time I think about it, I’m just like, did I know I was going to do that before I got on top of her? It just felt like there was already something in my mind that was implanted that I was gonna do it and when I woke up that morning it was gonna happen and I had no control over it.”

Cindy Watts, Chris’s mother, shared her thoughts with 9News in Spring Lake, North Carolina, following her son’s guilty plea. She vehemently denied any notion that he was “the sociopath next door” or a “psychopath,” expressing her lingering doubts about his guilt despite his confession. “It scares me to death to think that he could have done all of this. And I don’t wanna go there. I don’t wanna go there now,” she stated.

While grappling with these unsettling thoughts, Cindy Watts also mourned the loss of her grandchildren. She described her granddaughter Bella as “just like Chris—shy, cautious, conservative,” while Cece was “a ball of fire” who was “completely fearless” and loved to run. “It breaks my heart to know that they’re not here. They were beautiful children,” she added.
