Gomez’s Contract Allegations Highlight Collapse of Startup Wondermind

A lawsuit alleges that Selena Gomez signed a contract for performance obligations which she later ignored, contributing to the decline of her co-founded startup, Wondermind. The lawsuit claims that the supposed partnerships did not materialize, no initiatives were developed, and the app was never launched. Over a span of three years, the company reportedly deteriorated while its founders, officers, and directors remained silent to investors financing the struggling entity.

It was not until September 2025 that investors were made aware of the company’s issues, following an exposé by The Cut. The piece included accusations from former employees claiming that Wondermind’s co-founder Mandy Teefey was using drugs within the office. Teefey has denied these allegations.

The suit also references an article published by Forbes in August 2025, which reported that co-founder Pierson, 31, was “pushed out” of the startup amid escalating tensions with Teefey, 50. This conflict arose less than two years after Pierson, Gomez, and Teefey launched the company in November 2021. In response to the claims, a spokesperson for Pierson stated that she would “not characterize it as ‘pushed out,’” but acknowledged that leaving Wondermind was a difficult decision for her, despite pride in their achievements during her time there.
