Jane Doe 4 Joins Lawsuit Against Elon Musk’s xAI Over Child Sexual Abuse Material Allegations

A woman identified as Jane Doe 4 has become a plaintiff in a lawsuit initiated by three teenagers from Tennessee against xAI, the artificial intelligence company founded by Elon Musk. The lawsuit centers around the chatbot Grok and its alleged role in generating child sexual abuse material.

According to a report in The Washington Post, Jane Doe 4 claims that her stepfather utilized Grok to alter a photograph of her taken when she was 11 years old, resulting in the creation of over 7,000 explicit images featuring her likeness. She stated that her stepfather was discovered dead by suicide just two days after law enforcement uncovered the images during a raid.

“Limitless access to these tools is spreading so quickly,” she remarked. “It is taking everyday life and turning it into child sexual abuse.”

The lawsuit filed by the teenagers accuses xAI, now part of SpaceX, of failing to implement adequate safeguards to prevent Grok from being used to produce explicit images of individuals, including minors. Earlier this year, the platform was inundated with millions of Grok-generated sexualized images.

The plaintiffs are seeking class action status for their lawsuit. TechCrunch has contacted xAI for a response.
