Princess Eugenie Honors Queen Elizabeth II with Daughter’s Name
Princess Eugenie, the youngest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, has named her newborn daughter after the late Queen Elizabeth II. Just weeks after giving birth to her daughter with husband Jack Brooksbank, Eugenie announced the baby’s full name: Adelaide Elizabeth Annina Brooksbank.
The 36-year-old royal, who is also mother to two sons, August, 5, and Ernest, 3, shared that the newborn’s name pays tribute to three individuals whom her family admires, including her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away in 2022. In an Instagram post dated August 17, Eugenie expressed, “Named after three people we love and admire past and present, including her Great-Grandmother who we hold close in our hearts.”
Additionally, Eugenie revealed that the name carries significance rooted in both English and Portuguese history. “Her name is part of English and Portuguese history, two places we love and call home,” she said.
As the family adjusts to their new dynamic, Eugenie described their time together as “cosy and loved-filled,” noting that her sons are settling into their new roles as older brothers. “Augie and Ernie are already the best big brothers,” she added.
