Haji Wright Out for Up to 12 Weeks Due to Quad Injury, Impacting Coventry City’s Premier League Return

Coventry City has suffered a significant setback ahead of their much-anticipated return to the Premier League, as forward Haji Wright has been sidelined for up to 12 weeks due to a serious quad injury. The club is set to play their first Premier League match in 25 years against Arsenal, the defending champions, on Friday.

Manager Frank Lampard confirmed Wright’s absence after he missed recent preseason friendlies against Espanyol and Monaco. “Haji Wright won’t be available for the Arsenal game,” Lampard stated on Wednesday. “He won’t be available for a little while, he’s got a very serious quad injury which is disappointing for Haji and for us. It’s certainly going to be a number of weeks, could even be up to 12 weeks.”

Wright, 28, was instrumental in Coventry’s promotion to the Premier League, scoring 17 league goals last season as the team finished top of the Championship. Moreover, he represented the U.S. men’s national team at the recent World Cup, although he made only two brief substitute appearances in the tournament.
