Brighton Players Cover Ticket Costs for Fans Traveling to UEFA Match in Norway

Brighton & Hove Albion players are reimbursing fans making the long journey to the Arctic Circle for Thursday night’s UEFA Conference League playoff against Norwegian side Tromsø. The Premier League club announced that all 407 supporters making the trip will receive refunds for their match tickets, along with complimentary scarves and t-shirts as a token of appreciation for their dedication.

Captain Lewis Dunk explained the motivation behind the gesture, stating, “The fans didn’t know where they were going until the last minute. It’s a long trip for them, last minute to organize. We thought we want to start the season off well for the fans and make a gesture by refunding their tickets as a group.”

Brighton’s participation in the UEFA playoffs comes after the team’s eighth-place finish in the Premier League last season, which qualified them for this two-legged matchup in Europe’s third-tier club competition. Their opponents, Tromsø, secured a spot in this round by achieving a 7-1 aggregate victory over Romanian club Cluj last week.

This match in northern Norway marks Brighton’s first competitive game of the new season. The club stated that fans can expect to receive their ticket refunds in the days following the match. Dunk added, “Hopefully the fans appreciate this gesture from the players and it’s a good start to a good season with them and we can all enjoy it along the way.”

Brighton will kick off their Premier League season at home against Aston Villa on August 23.
