Patrick Clancy Testifies About Lindsay Clancy’s Struggles with Mental Health
During the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, her ex-husband Patrick Clancy took the stand, providing insight into her mental health issues. The trial commenced on July 27, 2023, at Plymouth Superior Court. Lindsay Clancy, 35, has admitted to the deaths of her three children—Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months—but has pleaded not guilty to murder, with her defense attributing her actions to postpartum psychosis.
Patrick Clancy testified that Lindsay experienced mental health difficulties following the birth of their son Callan in May 2023. He noted that she had sought mental health treatment after the birth of their second child, Dawson, in 2019, though this treatment did not last long.
Referring to Lindsay’s significant decline, Patrick described a critical period that began in December 2023 when she started taking a new medication, one of several prescribed to her since September. He shared that Lindsay confided in him about having “intrusive thoughts” regarding harming herself and their children but expressed he did not feel the children were in danger, believing she had “no intention” of actually hurting them.
On December 31, 2023, Lindsay went to the emergency room at Massachusetts General Hospital due to ongoing discussions of suicide, Patrick testified. She was subsequently admitted to a psychiatric facility, and upon her discharge on January 5, she reportedly seemed “much better.”
