Queen Camilla Reflects on King Charles III’s Health Journey in New Short Film
Queen Camilla has opened up about the challenges she and King Charles III faced following his cancer diagnosis, in a short film released on August 19, 2023, by Maggie’s—a charity dedicated to providing support to cancer patients. This reflection comes more than two years after Buckingham Palace revealed the monarch’s health battle.
In the video, which documents her visit to Maggie’s during a trip in 2024, Camilla, 79, recalled the difficult moments immediately following the diagnosis. “I remember coming to see a Maggie’s just after the king being diagnosed,” she shared. “Nobody could say anything at the time, that was quite difficult.” At the time, both she and Charles were mindful of keeping the situation private.
Camilla expressed her desire to share her thoughts during those early days but felt it was not the right moment to do so. She noted, “I almost said something but, you know, I felt that it wasn’t the time to say. [I] looked at everybody who was suffering and all the relations, and I think it made me realize even more how important these places were. I was just longing to let it out but obviously I couldn’t.”
The film also highlights Charles’s determination to continue with his royal duties despite his health struggles. This release marks the 30th anniversary of Maggie’s, underscoring its ongoing commitment to supporting those affected by cancer.
