Liverpool’s £50 Million Bid for Yankuba Minteh Rejected by Brighton

Liverpool have had a bid of £50 million ($68 million) for Brighton & Hove Albion’s Yankuba Minteh turned down, according to sources. The Gambia international is one of several attacking options being evaluated by Liverpool as they prioritize the signing of forwards capable of playing out wide.

Minteh is currently recovering from surgery on a right leg injury, which he sustained during a 3-0 friendly victory against Roma earlier this month. This injury is expected to keep him sidelined for at least eight weeks. Despite his injury status, sources indicate that Minteh is interested in a move to Anfield, though Brighton is not inclined to allow his departure.

In addition to Minteh, Liverpool is also in discussions with Paris Saint-Germain regarding forward Bradley Barcola, who has an estimated value of around £140 million ($190 million). Liverpool’s interest in Barcola follows the recent exclusion of him and teammate Ibrahim Mbaye from PSG’s squad for their Trophee des Champions match against Lens.

The Reds are actively working to strengthen their attacking options after the free transfer of Mohamed Salah at the end of the previous season. Liverpool has already completed the signing of Spain international Víctor Muñoz in a £34.5 million ($47 million) deal from Osasuna and are expected to explore additional opportunities in the transfer market ahead of the window closing.

Since joining Brighton for £30 million ($41 million) from Newcastle United in the summer of 2024, Minteh has contributed nine goals and eight assists across 66 Premier League appearances.
