PJs Take Over: How SKIMS, Daphne, and More Are Redefining Streetwear!

Headline: Sleepwear Moves to Street Style: Editors Test the Trend

Body: The latest fashion trend embraced by celebrities like Hailey Bieber, Elsa Hosk, Margot Robbie, and Dakota Johnson is the “sleepy girl” aesthetic, which blurs the lines between sleepwear and casual wear. Luxury pajamas have become versatile enough to wear out, combining comfort with chic styling. Editors from Bustle put the trend to the test to assess its wearability for everyday settings.

The evaluations included various sleepwear styles. A vibrant navy satin chemise became a favorite, styled with cut-off denim culottes and fisherman sandals for a relaxed look. One editor appreciated the comfort during a subway commute but noted it could be dressed up with kitten heels for more formal occasions.

Another standout piece was a black chemise that is sheer and features a deep V-neck. One editor wore it with a V-neck bralette and wide-leg white pants, transforming it into a bold yet tasteful outfit for a dinner outing. The piece’s versatility shone through, as it could easily transition into a casual day look with a graphic tee layered underneath.

The satin trousers posed more of a challenge for styling due to their pajama-like appearance. An editor dressed them down with an ice cream graphic tank top. While they felt comfortable, she ultimately decided they would be best reserved for informal settings.

A classic brown silk slip dress turned out to be incredibly versatile, easily transitioning from sleepwear to an outing with tall black leather boots and a shoulder bag. Another editor found sheer pants paired with a satin top perfect for drinks with friends, although the shorts of the set were deemed unsuitable for work due to their loose fit.

Throughout the experiment, other pieces included button-down shirts and various prints of slip dresses. While many items felt distinctly like pajamas, being comfortable and stylish was the overarching goal. Various editors reported receiving compliments on their attire while out, even when they initially hesitated to wear what is typically considered nighttime clothing in public.

Context: This trend highlights the growing acceptance of wearing sleepwear-inspired pieces in casual environments, appealing to a comfort-first fashion approach. With celebrities endorsing the aesthetic, it offers a fresh take on everyday wear.
