New Details Emerge on Possible Injustice 3 Game Development
- A new Injustice game appears to be in development, confirmed by a playtest leak.
- Characters Supergirl and Batwoman listed on stunt worker Mackensi Emory’s resume, indicating their roles in the game.
- Injustice 3 has not been officially announced, with speculation of a possible release in 2027.
A new Injustice game seems to be under development, bolstered by a recent leak from playtesting that has unveiled additional details about the anticipated DC fighting game.
Recent reports indicate that two characters from its roster, Supergirl and Batwoman, were featured on the resume of stunt worker Mackensi Emory, who has previously collaborated with developer NetherRealm. As reported by MP1st, Emory’s resume included references to Injustice 3, although these have since been removed.
Emory participated in motion capture sessions specifically representing Supergirl and Batwoman. Supergirl’s inclusion is expected due to her pivotal role in the narrative of Injustice 2, while Batwoman’s addition is a surprise.
This marks Batwoman’s debut in an Injustice game, interestingly coinciding with her stated death in the Injustice comic canon; as per the official comic books, which are considered canonical. MP1st notes that since the games and comics often reference one another, it could be unusual for the third installment to deviate from established continuity.
The revival of a deceased character in the superhero genre is not beyond possibility, and it is feasible that another individual could assume Batwoman’s role, a common trope used in comic book narratives.
It’s also notable that the forthcoming game may not directly continue the storylines from its predecessors and might function as a timeline reset, potentially showcasing renewed versions of well-known DC characters.
Additionally, Emory’s resume validated the involvement of animator and stunt coordinator Jake Huang, who has previously worked on Mortal Kombat 1 at NetherRealm.
While Injustice 3 has not been formally announced and currently lacks a release date, considering NetherRealm’s historical development timelines, a potential launch could occur in 2027, following the release of MK1 in 2023. There are speculations about the possible unveiling of the game at the Game Awards in December.
