Microsoft Unveils Xbox Mythic Achievements for Insiders
- Official launch of Xbox Mythic Achievements announced, now available to Xbox Insiders.
- Awarded for earning all other Achievements in a game and retroactively applied to Xbox 360 titles.
- New Gaming tab introduced to enhance Achievement tracking and user interface.
Microsoft has officially announced the introduction of Mythic Achievements, akin to PlayStation’s Platinum Trophies, now rolling out for Xbox Insiders. These achievements will be awarded when a player unlocks all other achievements for a particular game, mirroring the criteria for obtaining Platinum Trophies on the PlayStation platform.
The Mythic Achievements are unique in that they aren’t influenced by DLC adding new achievements, which are categorized as “add-on” achievements. Notably, they will be awarded retroactively, extending back to titles on the Xbox 360, meaning players could accumulate a significant number of Mythics upon activation if they have completed many games.
This initiative is part of an overall enhancement of the Achievement system on Xbox, which includes a revamped Gaming tab on profiles designed to better organize Achievement tracking. This new feature also allows users to view their friends’ gaming progress, fostering a competitive spirit within the Xbox community.
While a full rollout date for the Mythic Achievements has yet to be announced, interested users can participate by joining the Xbox Insider Program through the Xbox Insider Hub, available on Xbox Series S/X, Xbox One, and PC.

The announcement of Mythic Achievements is part of a series of updates to the Xbox system this year, amid challenges faced by Microsoft’s gaming division, including the departure of former Xbox head Phil Spencer and subsequent organizational changes under new leader Asha Sharma. Recently, the company has also faced further restructuring, which included 268 layoffs and studio consolidations, notably affecting the development team at Ninja Theory, known for the Hellblade series.
