Pearl Abyss, the developer of Crimson Desert, has announced a two-week delay for its first post-launch downloadable content (DLC), “Charting the Unknown.” The expansion, initially scheduled for release on 15th October, will now launch on 29th October.
In a statement on X, the developer remarked, “We are hard at work on Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown to bring you new adventures to Pywel. However, we have determined that we need additional development time to deliver a more polished and stable gameplay experience.”
The add-on was first revealed during a Sony State of Play presentation in September, marking the first official confirmation of its development. “Charting the Unknown” will introduce various new destinations, allowing players to explore the ocean, visit new islands, and engage in underwater adventures.
New narratives will feature characters such as Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane, enriching the gaming experience. Additionally, the expansion includes enhanced mechanics, including an upgraded house-building feature, the option to manage and rent facilities for income, and a system for developing relationships with NPCs.
Addressing player anticipation, Pearl Abyss stated, “We know many of you have been looking forward to returning to the game and we sincerely apologise for the longer wait. We will use the additional time to further refine the content and do our utmost to deliver the best experience we can.”
The DLC is priced at £19.99 or $24.99 and will be available for all versions of Crimson Desert, with the exception of the Mac App Store version.
