Midday Stock Movements: Tesla, Nike, and More See Significant Changes

⚡ Quick Read (30-Sec Summary):

  • Nike’s shares dropped nearly 6% after reporting first-quarter revenue that fell short of expectations.
  • Allegro Microsystems saw a 9% increase after receiving a positive rating from RBC Capital Markets.

Tesla, the electric vehicle manufacturer led by Elon Musk, experienced a 5% increase in its stock price. This rise came after the company reported third-quarter deliveries that exceeded Wall Street expectations, with a total of 486,532 vehicles delivered, surpassing the anticipated 461,100 units as per analysts from FactSet.

In contrast, Nike’s shares fell nearly 6% after the company’s fiscal first-quarter revenue missed analyst forecasts. According to LSEG data, Nike reported a 4% decline in sales, attributing the drop primarily to decreased performance in China. Furthermore, the company announced plans to lay off employees in 2027.

Broadcom’s stock rose over 3% following a report by Reuters stating that the semiconductor manufacturer has reached an agreement to lend Anthropic up to $42 billion for infrastructure purchases. Investment banks are working to secure $42 billion in Class A senior secured debt, along with $18 billion in Class B debt, enabling Anthropic to acquire or lease critical computing hardware.

ON Semiconductor and Synaptics also saw positive results; Synaptics surged 14% while ON Semiconductor gained more than 5% after ON Semi revised its buyout offer for Synaptics to $123 per share, valuing the deal at $5.7 billion.

Conversely, Nexalin Technology’s shares plummeted by 26% following a new 10-year distribution and manufacturing agreement with Inovanexa Medical Technologies, which supersedes a previous letter of intent from February. Nexalin’s Sync neurostimulation device is approved for distribution in seven South American countries.

Vylor, a seed and genetics company, saw a 2% increase in its stock after being named to join the S&P 500, as it completes a spinoff from Corteva, which itself declined by 3% and will transition to the S&P MidCap 400.

Both Seagate Technology and Western Digital experienced a significant decline of 13% after a Nikkei report indicated that Japan’s Toshiba will double its production capacity for data center hard disk drives and invest $380 million to enhance facilities in the Philippines.

Allegro Microsystems’ stock climbed 9% after RBC Capital Markets initiated research coverage with an outperform rating and a price target of $50 per share, suggesting a 37% upside from Thursday’s closing price of $36. Allegro, known for designing high-performance magnetic sensing semiconductors, is expected to see its data center revenue more than double by fiscal 2027.

Arxis, a designer of aerospace components, gained 4% following an upgrade to an outperform rating from RBC Capital. Analyst Ken Herbert noted that Arxis has significantly outperformed initial estimates since its 2026 IPO, with a new price target of $60 indicating a potential 26% increase from Thursday’s close.

Lastly, Onto Innovation, a supplier of inspection tools for the semiconductor industry, advanced by more than 5% after RBC Capital initiated coverage with an outperform rating, forecasting that the company’s advanced packaging business is projected to grow 80% this year. RBC’s price target of $400 implies a potential gain of around 27% from Thursday’s closing price.
