Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has officially announced its Year 1 DLC character roster, which features Phoenix Cyclops, Thor (Jane Foster), Venom, and Jubilee. The announcement was made by developer Arc System Works via Twitter/X, accompanied by artwork from renowned Marvel artist Peach Momoko.
Phoenix Cyclops will be the first to arrive, launching on November 2, 2026, alongside Classic and Legacy costumes. Following him, Thor (Jane Foster) is slated for release in winter 2027, while Venom and a corresponding Klyntar stage will become available in spring 2027. Jubilee is expected to complete the lineup with a summer 2027 release.
The upcoming characters and new stage are part of the Year One Characters & Stage Pass, though they will also be sold individually.
In a PlayStation Blog post, producer Takeshi Yamanaka discussed the rationale behind the selection of Phoenix Cyclops. He stated, “During those discussions, our narrative team proposed the idea of using the Phoenix version of Cyclops. We felt this interpretation would allow us to create fresher visuals and a more exciting fighting style while offering something unexpected for players.”
This creative choice is also the reason Phoenix Cyclops is being launched as a DLC character rather than being available at the game’s initial release. Yamanaka mentioned the team’s commitment to delivering a unique experience, stating they “made the difficult decision to continue working on the character until we felt like we were adding something new,” leading to his release as the first post-launch character.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is currently available on PS5 and PC.
