Sam Hulick to Rescore Mass Effect Universe Trailer for N7 Day
- Composer Sam Hulick plans to rescore the trailer for BioWare’s cancelled Mass Effect Universe.
- Hulick announced his intention on X, aiming for release on N7 Day despite a busy schedule.
- Austin Wintory also shared previously unreleased music for Mass Effect Universe amid BioWare’s recent restructuring.
Sam Hulick, the composer for the Mass Effect trilogy, announced his intention to rescore the trailer for the cancelled Mass Effect Universe in time for N7 Day. He shared this plan on X, stating: “Alright. My plan is to release the re-scored Mass Effect Universe trailer for N7 Day. A little tight, since I’m a bit busy pitching for a new game, but I’ll see what I can do! I don’t wanna rush it, and I want it to properly represent my musical vision for MEU.”
The original Mass Effect Universe trailer, released the previous week, served as an internal pitch for EA and BioWare to showcase the concept of the now-cancelled fifth installment in the franchise. Consequently, the music and assets were not intended for public viewing, prompting Hulick’s decision to rescore the trailer.
Additionally, composer Austin Wintory, known for his work on Sword of the Sea, Journey, and Hades 2, revealed that he had shared 20 minutes of music with BioWare staff in 2025 with hopes of contributing to Mass Effect Universe.
Both Hulick and Wintory voiced their disappointment regarding the recent closure of BioWare, which affected 50 employees, and was part of a larger restructuring that impacted hundreds of other EA employees. This occurred shortly after EA’s acquisition by Saudi Arabia’s Savvy Games Group and Jared Kushner’s private equity firm.
