Baggy Cat Games, the creators of the popular FMV horror title At Dead Of Night, have announced that the sequel, At Dead Of Night 2: The Great Hugo, will be arriving “very soon.” This follow-up continues the story of Maya as she explores a large Tudor manor house.
The original game gained rapid popularity during the pandemic, aided by notable streamers such as Markiplier, 8-BitRyan, John Wolfe, and DomPlays. They introduced audiences to Jimmy Hall, a sinister hotel landlord obsessed with drawing viewers to his late-night comedy show and his psychopathic alter ego, Hugo Punch.
At Dead Of Night 2 picks up five years after the original game. A blurb about the sequel reveals, “Five years later, Maya is still haunted by her experiences in Sea View Hotel. Desperate for answers, she remembers the ghost box she used in the hotel, left there when she escaped.”
Maya goes on to search for a similar device in antique shops and on auction sites but struggles to make it work. She reaches out to her former counselor, Quinn, who helped her navigate her supernatural experiences at the hotel. Quinn identifies the device and its origins with an inventor from a large Tudor manor not far from Sea View, but cautions her against experimenting with it. Undeterred, Maya embarks on her own investigation.
While the exact release timeframe for “coming (very) soon” is still unclear, updates will be provided as more details emerge.
For those still in the Halloween spirit, the developer of the horror game The Mortuary Assistant has released Playable Archive as a free addition this week. This title, a nod to the famed Playable Teaser from Hideo Kojima’s canceled Silent Hill project, offers a glimpse into developer Brian Clarke’s larger but unfinished Paranormal Activity game, presenting an intriguing look at what might have been.
