Infinity Ward Adjusts DMZ Story Missions for Solo Players
- Infinity Ward has reportedly made Story Missions in DMZ private for solo players during their initial attempt.
- Previous encounters with other players in these missions could lead to unwanted PvP actions.
- Community feedback indicates a division between those wanting more PvE experiences and the current PvPvE model.
Since the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s DMZ extraction mode, many players have called for purely PvE-only servers. Infinity Ward has consistently described DMZ as a PvPvE experience, but recent developments suggest an adjustment aimed at solo players.
In DMZ, players select a deployment type that determines their matchmaking pool. Options include free-roaming on the map or engaging in Dynamic Ops, which generate tasks on-the-fly. The game also features Story Missions that imply private instances, though at launch, players could still encounter others during these missions, leading to potential PvP conflicts.
It appears that Infinity Ward has now made Story Missions private for solo players, but only during their first completion of the mission. Subsequent attempts may not enjoy the same privacy, allowing for the possibility of re-encounters with other players.
While Infinity Ward has not officially confirmed the changes, players began noticing these adjustments on platforms like Reddit. One player reported successfully completing a Story Mission without encountering others, with no players listed in the Recent Players tab and no UAV Towers or SAM Sites activated—elements typically observed in PvPvE gameplay.
There are indications that players might still meet in Story Missions, which suggests caution is advised. This recent update underscores the split within the DMZ community, where a significant number of players desire a strictly PvE experience amidst the mixed PvPvE gameplay.
