Diane Warren Wins Bidding War for Viral Baby Pig Named ‘Wilbur’
Oscar-nominated songwriter Diane Warren has successfully adopted a baby pig that captured public attention after running loose in West Hollywood, California. Following a bidding war on August 20, Warren secured the 11-week-old pig, affectionately named “Wilbur” by social media users after the character from Charlotte’s Web.
The little pig was rescued on August 15 and taken to the West Los Angeles Animal Services Center, where no owners came forward to claim him. Marcia Zwilling, managing director of the Diane Warren Foundation, shared that Warren was inspired to act after viewing news clips of the pig’s adventure. “Diane saw the news clips and saw the little pig running in West Hollywood,” Zwilling told ABC7. “She just called me and said, ‘Please get the pig, get the pig!’”
On August 20, four prospective adopters participated in a silent auction to determine who would adopt Wilbur. This approach, as noted by LA Animal Services, was designed to ensure a “fair and competitive way to determine the adopter without favoritism.”
