Clayton Johnson Shares Last Words from Hayden Panettiere Following Her Death

Clayton Johnson reflected on his conversations with Hayden Panettiere in the weeks leading up to her passing on August 16 at the age of 36. In an emotional tribute shared on Instagram on August 17, Johnson disclosed the impactful last message he received from the actress.

“It’s been a couple of weeks since our last phone call, but the last thing you ever texted me was, ‘Honestly, people think it’s a joke to ask for world peace, but that would be me,'” Johnson wrote, accompanied by a video of the two performing his upcoming single “Never Have To Say,” set for release in 2025. “That was you in a nutshell,” he added, expressing his gratitude for their friendship and the memories they created together.

In his tribute, Johnson, who gained attention on Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette after a breakup with Lana Del Rey, also acknowledged the timing of Panettiere’s death, which came three years after her brother Jansen Panettiere passed away at the age of 28. “I spent last night trying to process, to try to find the right words, but there really aren’t any,” he stated. “More than anything, I hope you’re at peace now and reunited with Jansen.”
