Slipknot Parts Ways with Longtime Turntablist Sid Wilson
Slipknot has officially announced that Sid Wilson, the band’s turntablist since 1998, is no longer part of the group. The news was shared via a statement on the official Instagram account for Knotfest on August 14, 2023.
“Effective immediately, Slipknot will no longer be associated with Sid Wilson,” the band stated. They expressed their well wishes for his future endeavors and noted, “This announcement could briefly be found on the band’s website.”
Though Wilson has not publicly commented on the development, his departure follows reports alleging that he was fired from the band. Slipknot consists of members including percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan, singer Corey Taylor, and guitarists Mick Thomson and James Root.
In response to the rumors, Root addressed the situation on Instagram Stories on July 31, encouraging followers, “Don’t believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information.”
E! News has reached out to a representative for Wilson but has not yet received a response.
