Andrew Garfield Forms Band for Bugsy Malone Covers
Oscar-nominated actor Andrew Garfield has revealed his involvement in a new musical project after showcasing his singing talents in the 2021 film tick, tick…BOOM!. The 42-year-old confirmed to E! News that he is part of a band called The Shangles, which specializes in covers of the 1976 musical Bugsy Malone.
“I do have a band, we do Bugsy Malone covers,” Garfield said. He encouraged fans to look out for The Shangles, describing them as “a group of middle-aged guys doing Bugsy Malone covers.”
Although Garfield expressed excitement about the band, he noted that they are still in the early stages, waiting to see “what happens out there” for them. He mentioned, “We have some plans. We have some big plans,” but added that he could not disclose further details until they are official, stating, “I don’t want to jinx it.”
The actor, known for his role in The Amazing Spider-Man, clarified that his motivations for the band are not related to commercial success. Instead, he referred to the project as a “passion project.”
