Cyberpunk 2077 Unveils Major Update with New Features and Content
- Massive update for Cyberpunk 2077 set for release on October 22.
- Features include dual-wielding for pistols, new cyberware customization, and Edgerunners-related content.
- Cross-platform mod support introduced, expanding gameplay possibilities.
CD Projekt Red has announced a significant update for Cyberpunk 2077, scheduled to launch on October 22, 2023, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X, with a version for Switch 2 to follow shortly thereafter. The update introduces a variety of new features, including a dual-wielding skill for pistols and revolvers.
This update will also bring cyberware customization options through new “glam docs.” Players will find five glam docs throughout the city, enhancing their implant visuals. In addition, a new Edgerunners-related quest is included, crafted in collaboration with contributors from the Netflix anime series. This quest, named Clampdown, is set prior to the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 and will allow players to meet key characters, including Emily, Meshuga, and Miguel. “It will be the last job of the King’s team,” revealed CDPR publishing producer Natlia Pych.
Furthermore, the update adds a new Edgerunners radio station featuring 16 tracks from both seasons of Edgerunners. A new quest type, Night City Tours, will guide players through the city with narration from its founder, Richard Night, unraveling mysteries along the way.
Cross-platform mod support is among the most anticipated features, partnering with mod platform Mod.io, enabling players to browse and install mods directly from the in-game menu. This feature is reminiscent of the recently launched cross-platform mod support in The Witcher 3: Remastered.
In terms of performance enhancements, the update introduces numerous optimizations, including a long-awaited field of vision slider, DLSS 4.5 support, and improvements for Mac users. Additionally, several minor tarot arcana will be added to the game, along with an actual physical tarot card deck for players to purchase.
