Update 1.1 for The Blood of Dawnwalker to Introduce New Story Mode and Features

⚡ Quick Read (30-Sec Summary):

  • Update 1.1 will introduce a new Story mode and the Draught of Mind Rebirth potion.
  • Patch includes over 1,100 improvements, uncensored blood and gore for the Japanese version, and various combat enhancements.
  • Expected rollout is next week.

The upcoming Update 1.1 for The Blood of Dawnwalker is set to introduce a new Story mode featuring additional combat assist, along with a unique potion known as the Draught of Mind Rebirth, which allows players to forget their current abilities and explore a new skillset. Players will also enjoy the ability to pet dogs and cats.

Slated for release next week, the patch includes enhancements to combat targeting, camera adjustments, traversal improvements, an update to FrameGen technology, and the inclusion of uncensored blood and gore in the Japanese version of the game available on Steam. Over 1,100 improvements and fixes will also be implemented.

The patch notes, shared on Twitter/X, reflect numerous changes discussed by game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz last month. The game difficulty previously labeled as Story will now be known as ‘Forgiving’ difficulty, accompanied by the new Story mode featuring additional combat assistance.

The Draught of Mind Rebirth will enable players to forget their mastered abilities in Swordmastery, Witchcraft, and Vampirism, allowing for a reallocation of skill points to explore new abilities.

In addition to the new features, a variety of technical issues will be addressed, including further updates to the FrameGen technology and dedicated settings.

New features included in Update 1.1:

  • Draught of Mind Rebirth: This potion allows players to reset their skills and pursue different abilities.
  • Petting animals: Players can now interact with dogs and cats within the game.
  • Update to Story mode: The game will offer the option between the new Story mode with added combat assist and the Forgiving game difficulty.
  • Additional subtitle settings: Increased font size and subtitles for all dialogue lines.

Changes and improvements include:

  • FrameGen update: Enhancements to the FrameGen technology.
  • Camera improvements: Adjusted animations and camera behaviors during combat.
  • Combat improvements: Enhanced targeting, locking onto, and disengagement from enemies.
  • Traversal improvements: Increased response in targeting and surface attachment when using abilities like Shadowstep and Planeshift.
  • Japanese version update: Blood and gore will now appear uncensored in the game’s Japanese release on Steam.

The update aims to roll out next week. The Blood of Dawnwalker, which launched in early September, received a four-star review on Eurogamer. Reviewer Bertie highlighted the game’s innovative time-limiting structure and flexible gameplay, along with its engaging quests and characters, stating: “CD Projekt Red alumni create a familiar dark fantasy adventure, but one with bold and provocative ideas of its own, that’s mostly, enormously successful.”
