Capcom is allowing players to experience the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2 with a ‘Prologue demo’ set to launch on 19th October, just prior to the game’s full release on 4th December. This demo enables players to engage with the beginning of the game, encompassing content up to Chapter 1-3, titled “To the Forest.”
The demo is offline-only, restricting the multiplayer experience to local gameplay. Players nearby with the demo can join forces on hunts, a feature that enhances the game’s cooperative spirit. Users can experiment with all 14 weapon types and have full access to the character creator, along with the benefit of saving their progress for the full game.
Capcom has addressed previous criticisms surrounding Monster Hunter Wilds, specifically regarding difficulty levels and performance issues, as it continues to refine the game post-launch. The new version for Switch 2 has reportedly contributed to improvements across all platforms, reflecting the extensive efforts made to ensure optimal performance on the hybrid console.
The impending release on Switch 2 is part of Capcom’s strategy to elevate Monster Hunter Wilds beyond the success of Monster Hunter World. The developer aims to “surpass” the remarkable sales and popularity achieved by its predecessor. An upcoming expansion titled Ascendance is also anticipated, marking another critical phase in this journey towards success.
