- Set to launch on October 28, it is positioned as a potential breakout title in the gaming market.
Chinese action game Phantom Blade Zero appears to be outperforming well-known titles like Gears of War: E-Day and Control Resonant on Steam, even before its official release.
This insight comes from sales data analyzed by Rhys Elliott, head of market analysis at Alinea Analytics, who shared his findings on LinkedIn. Elliott estimated that the game has sold 500,000 copies through pre-orders, which translates to roughly $24 million in revenue. He noted that these figures indicate that Phantom Blade Zero was “outperforming” its competitors on Steam, with China identified as its leading market.
Additionally, the game has accrued an impressive 2.5 million wishlists on Steam. According to Elliott, a significant percentage of wishlisters have experience with popular titles such as Black Myth Wukong (41%), Elden Ring (38%), and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (28%).
Elliott further commented that “pre-launch signals” suggest a strong reception for the game on PS5 as well, hinting at its “potential to be one of the year’s breakout single-player hits.”
These developments come at a time when China’s gaming industry is thriving, with many releases from Chinese developers achieving critical and commercial success globally. Phantom Blade Zero is set to release for PS5 and PC on October 28, and it shows all the hallmarks of becoming another successful title in the market.
